For 50%+ of my boot ups, it gets locked up at "Initializing Modules". I think this could be a hardware problem. (power supply not clicking on and off correctly) Is there some sort of log file regarding the boot up that I can check to try and figure out what went wrong? Running Kubuntu 5.10 AMD64 3800+.

Mine never hangs forever at initializing modules, but it sure does stay on that step for an unusually LONG time. I'd like to know what's wrong here, too.
For what it's worth, I have a dual-core processor, and the k8 SMP kernels for Kubuntu crash (yes, even the latest update). So I compiled my own 2.6.15.4 k8 smp kernel and it works fine. There's no initrd, and no graphical bootup screen, but it boots quickly and never "stalls" at any stage.
That's how I "solved" the problem. By accident. ;)

I'm ordering a new Power Supply. It's 90% of the time that it gets stuck now. We'll see what problems, if any, that will solve.

YES. It appears that it was a power supply problem. It would have been great to have been able to have more of an idea about that before I actually ordered it, so if anyone knows of anyway I could have troubleshooted that, then that would be great.
