Alright here's what im trying todo:

A Dual boot on two seperate hard drives

Windows on an old SATA drive

and ubuntu on my IDE

I have been running Ubuntu on my desktop (Dell Dimension E310) for a while now and i would like to add a another HD (SATA) for windows. I would like my IDE (ubuntu) drive to remain untouched (i would not like to format it, if at all possible).

I have succesfully installed everything (as far as hardware goes). The SATA drive is out of an older dell windows desktop- which still has all the files on it including the original OS.

I have managed to access the drive through ubuntu as a seperate device but I am having issues booting into it. I have been searching and have attempted a few different things. Now I believe it is time to ask for some help so someone can help point me in the right direction. If there is any information that i left out give me a heads up! thanks

What you need to do is get Grub running for a dual boot. You might have better luck on the normal Ubuntu Forum. I'm not a Tech, just a user, but the two drives should not be a problem. Usually people have Windows already installed and add the Ubuntu, that creates the Grub menu for a choice. I don't know how to go about it the other way around but I'm sure it can be done.
