My Girlfriend was having problems with her IPod, and read somewhere that using fsck could possibly help fix the problem she was having with it. So she grabbed my computer (running ubuntu 9.10) and logged in as root, ran fsck, and now I can't boot up ubuntu.
I'm not really sure what happend, but I continue to get the error: Mount of filesystem failed. /dev/sda1 contains a file system with errors.
Any ideas as to what happened or how to fix it? I really don't want to loose my music or movies!

fsck I think depends on hal. HAL is no longer complete in ubuntu 9.10.
