Hi Folks,

I am new to ubuntu and trying to get back into computer stuff hence am a little rusty. I was trying to configure magento's base url and made a mistake. While trying to correct the mistake, I read that I needed to clear /var/cache. So Like an idiot I logged in as su and cleared all the contents of /var/cache/.

When tried to relog into ubuntu, I couldn't as my touchpad and keyboard doesn't respond. So I have tried to create the folder structure that I deleted using command line from recovery mode. Plus ran apt-update. So joy so far my environment seems to be f**k*d. when try to startx from command line I get switch user error dialogue boxes.

I guess I first need to get my keyboard and touchpad control back and so on.

PLEASE HELP.. I HAVE GOT IMPORTANT STUFF ON IT AND I AM NOT VERY GOOD A UNIX COMMANDLINE..

THIS WAS MY STUPID MISTAKE.

Thanks..all in advance
