I've noticed in the support forums that when replying to a plea for help, you will often find yourself saying certain things over and over again, such as:

In command line type 'gedit /etc/apt/sources.list'
In command line type 'sudo apt-get install ....'
Check out EasyUbuntu (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=84742) or Automatix (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=80295)

Would it be possible to have a set of pre-made sentences such as the ones above, with proper [co'de] and [quo'te] tags made into a button on the top toolbar like there is for Bold, Italic, and Underline?

What ya think?

This would be a lot of work extending the forum software like that. Yes, i agree that you do tend to find that you repeat yourself, but the amount of extra code needed to make this idea function in the forum software is unfathomable.

Copy/Paste? Why not just add these into a file and open it, then copy/paste. There is even a website of frequent answers made for people to copy and paste into their replies. Search around or ask for more information.

Or do like aysiu and make a few web pages for common problems and then post links each time the question is asked (or post links to his stuff...)

We can't award people for not following the guidelines/common sense and not use the search tool first. If everyone searched before asking for a question like we clearly recommend, we wouldn't have that problem. That said, since not everyone is using the exact same answer, people tend to get sometimes good and sometimes bad replies. That's just not our fault.
