tftp server Ubuntu 9.04

I already have a Ubuntu machine whit a tftp server instal. Some one else do the installation for me. How can I know the status of the server.
How can I start and stop the tftp server.

Typically if you have, say atftp installed it is running at startup. You can just try and put a file from another machine and see if it is in your tftp root directory in the case of atftp it is

/var/lib/tftpboot
