View Full Version : [ubuntu] PPC: Font issue with Emacs and notifications

Hi,

I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 for PowerPC on my ageing iBook G3 12.1in (900MHz). Most things are working fine (yay! :) ), except for a few issues, which I'm still trying to fix.

One is a weird font issue with Emacs. I installed Emacs 23 (GTK version, but I also tried the Lucid version, which had the same issue). When Emacs is started, it looks like this:

The menu fonts are normal, as can be seen, but the fonts in the text area and on the mode line look like some sort of bar code... Switching the default font has no effect.

There seems to be a similar (or the same?) issue with notification windows that for example Network Manager pops up. I haven't been able to make a screen shot of that, but they also show just bar "codes" where there should be text...

Anyone have an idea what might be causing this?

TIA

Joost

Did you ever find a solution to this? My 17" eMac 1GHz PPC4 is having the exact same issue and I'm not sure what to do.
