Intel Pro wireless 3945 abg - UBUNTU 9.10 - Dell Xps M1530 Not working

Intel Pro wireless 3945 abg not working in ubuntu 9.10. Some times after 5 to 6 times restarting it works,but its very annoying.
One thing i noticed when i examined dmesg out put is

did you try to install the linux-backports-modules this used to fix my wireless problems in previous ubuntu versions

linux-backports-modules doesnt seems to help ,now at times i get wifi but sometimes dont. after 4 to 5 reboots it comes ,again goes in next reboot . Can you gve anyother suggestons? do u know y iwl3945 is in deep sleep? ls check my dmesg code.Thanks for the relp:py

I've seen reports of this before; I think it's a bug.
I know it's not much use to you, but you might want to consider trying out an older version of Ubuntu such as Jaunty.

That's interesting. It really should find your card and configure it correctly, were it a Broadcom card, I'd say fine, but the fact it's an intel card spells out that something is drastically wrong. You might want to file a bug report if you haven't done already. ;)

Also, maybe Hardy is worth a shot? You won't get much more stable than Hardy at the moment when it comes to Ubuntu.

FWIW I too have a Dell XPS M1530, but with the Intel 4965AGN card, and I've had no issues since Feitsy.

i used to have the same problem with my 4965agn, using ubuntu 8.10 and 9.04 but installing the backports modules solved it for me.

i would try searching through bugreports on launchpad. eventually someone else has already filed a bug report and you can see what the progress on solving it is.
if you are the first one to run into the bug you could make a bug report so the devs can take care of it.
