When we create java projects , we usually have many packages. They actually are nested folders.

when i want to switch back and forth between packages in my project using terminal, it becomes hell lot of work.

Is there any kind of tool which simplifies this process ?

I for one don't understand what exactly "switching back and forth" in the terminal is supposed to do/mean.
If you mean compiling (only) certain packages then I guess you should learn using "makefile"s. If you were using an IDE (eclipse, netbeans) they'd do that for you automatically.

also not sure what you mean -- do you mean something to cut down on the typing required for cd'ing around the package directory structure?

if so, then you could check cdbm (http://perlmeister.com/scripts/cdbm.html), a handy perl script from Mike Schilli which allows you to bookmark directories you cd to frequently.

theres also a project called bookmark tools (http://www.bookmark-tools.com/) which sounds similar, but covers more than just cd'ing.
