View Full Version : any GOOD fps games?
what, what?
November 9th, 2009, 06:29 PM
Ive downloaded a few fps games hoping they would be good. Like Nexuiz, assaultcube, alien arena, urban terror, and true combat elite. The only one I have enjoyed is urban terror. But it gets a little boring having just that one fps game on my computer. Are there ANY fps games equal or more fun than urban terror? And about true combat elite, I never got it to work on my computer, so is it any good because i havent acctually tried it. I dont want to wait 10 hours for a game i might not like.

If u like urban terror i am assuming u like fast paced shooters.
In that case i would recommend Warsow

but you should put a warning there
warning: warsow is very fast game, but to begin with, you will not be.
there is a great learning curve to learning how to move about this fast.
et:qw is a good game also.

World of Padman - It's cartoonish FPS, but check it out anyway.

I second Warsow.
It's really a different concept to movement, but once you mentally *click* and get lots of practice, it can be a ton of fun.
It's super-fast.
And Nexuiz isn't that bad ;)

Define a good shooter.
Do you like fast? do you like realistic? do you like non-stop action?
Fast: Warsow
Realistic: True-combat comes close, installing is a hell indeed.
Non-stop action: Well.. found in most games.
Quake(live) is one of the most played shooters on Linux I guess, try em. Quake 4 and Doom 3 have a great single player if you like campaigns.
I've been looking for that one shooter for a long time too, and I finally bought Battlefield 2. It doesn't run very well on wine, so I sadly have to reboot for that one.
