I upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10 yesterday, and all seemed to be well!!!!!
I have not upgraded to grub2, just thought I would get things stable with grub first!
When I tried to do a reboot, 9/10 times the boot would not complete and would seem to time out and go to a black screen.
Last message was waiting for root device.
I even tried booting in recovery mode which had a greater but not perfect success rate.
At the point of trashing the whole Ubuntu install....I found something relating to grub parameter "ROOTDELAY".
So I added "ROOTDELAY=120" to my menu.lst...and now it seems to boot ok!!!
I never had this problem with 9.04, is this a common issue? Is there a better way to get around this problem?
I would appreciate your assistance please.
