Open Office status bar issue with Karmic

I just upgraded to Kubuntu Karmic, and noticed the improved looks on Open Office, but I have an issue with the status bar. When I save a file (or it's autosaved) the status bar goes blank or near blank after you see the progress bar animation. I then have no direct access to the zoom slider and language settings. The only way to get the items back is to click in the right place and change something. Does anyone know how to solve this? I couldn't find a solution online, so I'm trying here. Thanks!
