Hiya,

I have a Dell Optiplex 755 pc which I don't use and decided to use it as a media center. I installed ubuntu 9.10 desktop on it and connected to my Toshiba 42" lcd via VGA connector (lucky me toshiba has a VGA input) but I only get 800x600 or 640x480 resolution. Am I doing something wrong here? I thought with 42 " tv, I should get a quite good resolution.

I had a similar problem, but I couldn't get my TV to get any signal, it just showed Unsupported signal on screen. How did you manage to get it working? I have a 42" Toshiba TV also.

To be honest I didn't to anything special. Hooked up the tv and it worked :)

Also having this problem. I have a 42" Sony Bravia with a VGA connection. If I hit ctrl+f7 I get a brief, squished view of my ubuntu desktop. If I hit ctrl+f1 It puts me to a terminal screen (normal view)?? I also have it connected to a 17" monitor and it works just great. Any help would be greatly appreciated.....
