Hello,

I'm trying to hook up an external monitor to my Latitude D610 so that the desktop is expanded across both screens. When I first plugged in the external monitor it was mirroring the D610. So I unchecked the mirror desktop option and set both resolutions to 1024x768. (their native resolutions) When I did this both screens went black except for the cursor and a small strip on the left of the D610 screen. I can still click and operate the system but I cannot see anything. (see attached picture) I then tried making the resolution on one of the screens 800x600 and keeping the other at 1024x768 and both screens worked. I tried this on both of them. However when I go back to having them both at 1024x768 I get the black screen.

Has anyone had a simmilar problem, does anyone know of any fixes?

I had this same set up in 9.04 and it worked fine.

Try the Fn-F7 key combination when you have that black screen. I have issues with a C600 showing dual screens on the laptop LCD and can't navigate. toggling the Fn-F7 key combination fixes the issue. Not sure of that is available on the D610 though. The C600 I have has the SXGA+ (1400x1050) LCD which toggles between high and low resolution using the Fn-F7 keys.
