Hello,

I am so frustrated right now! I've been working on my MacBook (5,2) for countless hours. Hre is what's up:

Before I truly start I would like to say that I have done a lot of reading and troubleshooting before posting. I'm not saying my question hasn't been asked, just that I can not find it. With that said, lets begin!

I switched from windows to OS X about a year ago. However, I have always been a fan of linux. I have been very happy with my mac(s) but after a year of constantly installing freeware apps, somehow this morning my Snow Leopard install would not boot. I took at as I good thing as all my files are backed up, so I had a copy of Ubuntu 9.10 on a CD and tried to install it. Here is my problem:

I was able to instal ubuntu, however when asked to restart it won't re-boot into the OS, no matter how many times I try my Macbook will not boot ubuntu. Also, it takes a fairly long time to even get to the grub menu.

What I'm asking for is for someone to point me in the right direction for installing ubuntu 9.10 on my MacBook 5,2
Just to be clear I want ubuntu as my only OS.

I thank you for your time and looking forward to your response. Just a heads up, it might take me a little while to respond. (I am using my dad's mac right now)
Thanks again,

-Angelus

Hey,

Are you trying to tell me Ubuntu doesn't work on the MacBook 5,2 at all?
I'm confused! I have read in manyplaces it does work, however the mactel link you provided states otherwise. Thanks for the help though!

the link I provided are general instructions. Use the forum and search button for more detailed information. I think you can install Karmic Koala on a MacBook 5,2.

Hey linuxopjemac,

I want to thank you for your help. I have OS X installed on my macbook again, however now that I can view your link with suitable screen I will take another look. (I was using my iPod Touch before) If I get ubuntu up and running I'll let you know.

Thanks again,
