The site states that getting 4 GB instead of 2GB of RAM costs one extra +$230.00.

Ummm, isn't this quite exaggerated, knowing that a chip of 2 GB costs around $40 ?

Thanks, Val

4 GB - DDR3 1066 MHz 1 DIMM ( +$230.00 )

I believe the Lemur has only a single RAM slot, therefore, in order install 4 Gig of RAM, they use a single 4 Gig module rather than two 2 Gig modules. 4 Gig laptop RAM modules are still very expensive.

Looks like prices for a single 4 GB DDR3 1066 DIMM at Crucial range from $180-$290.

Does anyone know if the RAM can be upgraded later? Like when prices drop for a 4gig ram?

Is the ram slot easily accessible? Under the flat battery maybe?

Any info would be very helpful.

Does anyone know if the RAM can be upgraded later? Like when prices drop for a 4gig ram?Based on something Tom said in another thread, the RAM should be upgradeable later. How easy it would be is, of course, another matter:Upgrading hardware (RAM/Memory/Hard Drive) will not void your warranty, as long as you are using parts with approved specs.
(http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=8241000&postcount=2)Based on this tidbit, I would assume that these parts are user upgradeable. But before you submit an order, it would certainly be reasonable on your part to confirm this directly with System76.

Memory and hard drive are user upgradeable. CPU is not.
