Encoding WMV's for YouTube

A: By using a simple (and free) program like Windows Media Encoder you can convert your saved videos to a WMV format that will be compatible with websites like Youtube.

WMV is a truly terrible format, so it's actually fortunate that there aren't many applications on Linux that use it (except to convert files to a better format). You can use AVIdemux (from the repos) to convert WMVs to mp4, avi, or whatever else you like that YouTube will accept (xvid video with mp3 audio is always safe). Or you can download Handbrake from their website and try that (I get the best results from it). There are a lot of other good GUI options, such as WinFF, and you can use command-line tools as well if you prefer to do it that way.
