Hi I need a professional video editing program, so no Kino, PiTivi or the like. I tried KdenLife which is pretty much what I need, however it keeps on crashing randomly. So if anybody knows how to fix KdenLife or can tell me another similar program I'd really appreciate it.
Greetings, JP

If you need a professional editor then have a look at cinelerra or blender. Both have references in professional editing.
Google on "Akirad" to find repositories to install for cinelerra. Blender is the repos but you can get it from the blender site as well (download, extract and run the executable : no installing needed)

The above suggestions are good ones, but did you add the PPA for the newer version of kdenlive or did you use the one in the Karmic repository ?

Kdenlive is the best in my opinion and I use it daily. It is buggy, so save often, but I haven't found anything that works as well as it does.

I had an audio problem when I first installed it on 9.10 that made it crash after about 3 seconds, but they put up a fix (http://www.kdenlive.org/forum/audio-issues-076-ubuntu-910) on the kdenlive forums that fixed it for me.

I used the original Karmic one, thanks for the link I'll give it a try. :)

Yeah I really like it too, my problem were random crashes with no real regularity. Anyway thanks, I'll give it a shot.

As has been said, it's because the default karmic repo is just the old version. So add that repository and mark it for upgrade in synaptic.
