Hi all,

The same problem is back to haunt me since Hardy. The thing is with Compiz enabled, whenever I play videos (all sort of formats using MPlayer/SMPlayer/VLC/Totem, etc), they did not played smoothly. The problem disappeared when I upgraded to Intrepid. No such problem for me in Jaunty either. But the problem appeared when I upgrade to Karmic. I will have to disable Compiz whenever I wanted to watch videos. I have try Kubuntu/Xubuntu with Compiz, same results. Tried Kubuntu with KWin Compositing On also the same. Any workaround on this one? I am using Nvidia 8600M with 185.xx driver.

I've got the same problem also with Karmic and using an ATI 4830 card. If anyone has had experience of being able to solve this problem I'd be grateful if you could share it.

Thanks Teonghan, no joy though. I've got an ATI 4830 but I still tried all the settings mentioned in case they worked. I'm still suffering with a choppy DVD video output using VLC (Movie Player just hangs and I have to force quit).
