View Full Version : make apt-p2p default

I heard that the ubuntu servers are sometimes overloaded because of the number of users downloading from it.

so why don't we expand on the current apt-p2p framework so that it is used by default. If the apt-p2p framework can't find any peers after a certain amount of time, it can then switch over to another server. This way, we can use less server resources.

That would be bad and not sit well with certain ISPs. Not every ISP is liberal about the P2P traffic.

I like the idea, but maybe not make it default.
