Hey guys, I love Ubuntu on my laptop, even though it should be very dead by now, being 10 years old and requiring the use of the PowerPC distro.

Granted, it is starting to run a bit slow and fragmenty, specifically in the Update Manager, and I was thinking of doing a wipe and installing Xubuntu on it, as I have heard it works wonders on older machines. Would you guys recommend the clean install, or could/should I use an Alternate CD to upgrade, or is it even worth my time?

Hi! It's very beautiful there's still some people loving ubuntu that want to use
the wonderful apple clamshell, i'm just posting from my indigo 366mhz.
I just upgraded the hd from 10 to 80 gb, i tried various distro at the and i
suggest to install ubuntu jaunty and then install xfce-desktop with apt,
i have been working on xubuntu, kubuntu and ubuntu and this last seems
to be the best. So because our laptop has few video ram the xfce desktop
works very well for me, it's very nice, enough fast and very similar to gnome.
I struggled a little bit with airport but at the end i won (you can find another post of mine)
so hope this helped you, enjoy your linux clamshell CIAO.

Thanks, did a xfce-desktop install, and it's definately picked up a bit. It's a dual-USB by the way.
