help needed with Diablo 2

Per suggestions from this thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=14895&highlight=diablo2
I decided to go by Frank's corner http://frankscorner.org/index.php?p=diablo2. Whenever I go to do a full install, using wine /pathtocdrom/install.exe a error window comes up right after I hit Accept saying Unable to save uninstall data file. Install aborted. Has anyone had this problem and better yet know how to remedy it?

Have you tried copying all the CDs to your hard drive and trying to install it from there?

I thought that would probably work, but no go. It's still pointing to the cdrom it appears even though I pointed it to the elsewhere (install.exe).

within 'winecfg' under drives. Is it possible to change the drive associated with my cdrom (/media/cdrom0) in order to get the diablo installation disk to be recognized? or do I need to create a symbolic link for my /media/cdrom0 to be reconnized as my E: drive? How would one do that?
