Hi all, I'm looking for USB headphones, and would like some recommendations from fellow Ubuntu multimedia creators.

I'm doing sound production on Ubuntu 8.10, synths, tracking, mixing, whatever it takes to make noise. So I'm looking for:

- comfort
- won't bother with a headset/mic combo
- works Out the Box, but happy to do any setup if needed

Do you have a good experience with USB headphones that you will recommend?

I got a plantronics usb headset that came with a separate usb thingy which was a good thing because the plantronics headphones were crap. I use my sony headphones with it because the headset plugged into the usb thingy instead of being hardwired. It worked OOB with hardy and interpid and jaunty and karmic and debian and suse and mandriva and fedora so no worries there. It was pretty cheap too, maybe $40. The usb dongle was a c-media.

You can probably get a better quality usb soundcard and plug some good headphones into it and you would be good to go.

I'm with markbuntu, get yourself a c-media adapter, those are less than $20,- and work OOTB, and a good pair of headphones.

I never knew there is a usb -> audio dongle, neat. Adding this to my list of to-gets as an alternative to USB headphones. Thanks!
