View Full Version : [ubuntu] Unable to mount USB without terminal

Howdy,

I've spent a good chunk of time hunting around for a solution to my problem. No luck. My USB devices are giving me trouble. The computer recognizes them, but is unable to mount or unmount them automatically (or by rightclick > mount volume).

I'm aware of how to mount and unmount them using terminal commands, and that works fine and dandy (though it's becoming a bit of a hassle). Another interesting thing is that, if I log in as root, the drives automount without issue. This leads me to believe that perhaps my normal user account doesn't have permissions/authority to mount usb drives?

I've tried fiddling with fstab, and file permissions for the mount directory I created for mounting USB/external drives, but no luck. Suggestions?

cheers,
- K
