Using 9.10 karmic on my MacBook 1.1 the touchpad is more sensitive vertically than horizontally which leads to the cursor moving faster vertically compared to a similar movement horizontally.
There's an old discussion here

independent horizontal/vertical touchpad sensitivity settings? (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=939165)
Someone suggests a fix of downloading the source for synaptics driver and modifying the source using your own multiplier for y coordinate.
I'm using this MacBook with Windows XP, OS X 10.6 and Ubuntu 9.10. Only in Ubuntu does the touchpad exhibit this problem. I ran Fedora 12 Live CD and the touchpad doesn't exhibit this problem, touchpad tracking is spot on vertically and horizontally however Fedora has horrible graphics problems with KMS and my MacBook's intel graphics.
Any solutions, I've tried messing with acceleration and sensitivity and whilst it does help a tiny bit the touchpad functionality is really impaired.
