In the Community Cafe, there seem to be several lost people asking for help. I suggest that you don't allow those with under 10 posts(or something like that) to post there. It would also stop spammers from posting there.

I don't think we can completely avoid people posting in the wrong place. I've seen support requests in the "Forum Feedback & Help" and "Resolution Center" that had nothing to do with what those sections are about. And the spammers keep on sending me rubbish via the email address I only ever use with this forum & Launchpad.

I've asked some people why they post support question the Cafe, the answer almost always is that they only want to deal with their friends in the Cafe

Really? Hm. Even those with (a) no/very little post count?

You find that most of the people asking support questions are amongst the regulars that hang out there.

Hm. I suppose, but I have seen a few newbies just posting there straight away.

I would venture to guess, that most of the noobs you see posting questions in the Cafe have been here before and are only noobs in name.

Doesn't that circumvent the help sections? When searching for solutions, should one now include the Casfe - in said search? If these individuals wish to question their friends, why not just send a PM?

Should a new member see these type of help posts in the Cafe, could it not easily be misinterpreted and assumed that the Cafe is an acceptable section to seek assistance? If the members are only new by name, than they should already know that the Cafe is not for help posts.

I'm not certain the solution lies in restricting individuals from posting in the Cafe, based solely on bean count. But certainly, NoaHall may have identified a potential issue.

Just a thought.

We move the threads as soon as we see them. If I see a noob that really is serious about finding help, I'll pm them and try to set them straight and maybe even answer their question.
