Is there a way to sort the Favorites section of the Application menu alphabetically as of now it just puts them in the order you added them...

I'm also interested in a way to reorganize my Favorites list. Having to remove and add them in the order I want is tedious and not an elegant solution. Drag and drop would be ideal.

I don't think there is in 9.04. But I've got one here with 9.10 on it, and it seems to sort alphabetically by default.
DON'T PUT 9.10 ON YOURS YET. THE WIRELESS DRIVER FOR 9.10 ISN'T READY YET.

I'm actually using 9.10. For me it definitely sorts by chronological order: the newest favorites display closest to the end. All the other lists (Accessories, Games, Internet, etc.) are sorted alphabetically though.
Also, if you don't mind a really hackish solution, you can manually re-order your favorites by changing gconf-editor > apps > netbook-launcher > favorites > favorites-list. Be careful when using gconf-editor though. It's easy to mess things up from it. Here's a link to the hackish solution: http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/22652/

I just did more testing on it, and my Favorites *definitely* sorts alphabetically.
But, I'm not seeing a setting for it. Looking through gconf-editor...
