View Full Version : [kubuntu] Modem Software driver on PanP5 -- Does modem work?

Hello,

I've read lots of posts saying to disable the Modem Software driver on the PanP5 systems to fix the sound problem in Karmic, but if the driver is enabled does the modem work? And if so for fax and data?

The reason I'm asking is it'd be nice to have the modem as an option, even if it requires not having sound while using it, and I can always disable the driver when it's not in use so sound will work.

Thanks --

Sam

Hi, Samalex.

We don't test it. I *doubt* it works. Internal laptop modems have a long, bad history with Linux. They utilize ALSA and typically has negative effects on sound.
