I noticed that the new Mandriva lets you use Moblin as one of the desktop managers (http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/2010.0_Tour#Moblin), and that ubuntu has a moblin remix (http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-moblin-remix/releases/karmic/release/). (which im downloading now)

Is there anyway to install moblin on top of an existing ubuntu?

Meh, installed a moblin remix. Long story short: it doesnt work with an nvidia card. Without restricted driver its laggier than vista on a 386SX and tseng lab videocard, and once you installed nvidia drivers pretty much all screens go white.unusable. A shame cause it looks promising.

anyone got moblin to work with anything other than intel graphics?

Nor does it work with GMA drivers.
Its an excellent idea, but until there's ANY real video support, the community is going to find it very hard to help Canonical/Intel build the damn thing

I got it working properly, but it lacks some netbook-necessary features which I explained and asked about in here. (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1317853) But everything worked fine on my EeePC 1000H.

Which has intel onboard graphics :)
Moblin was originally developed by intel, later opensourced, but it looks like at this point it wont work with other graphics cards reliably.. although im downloading Madriva and will give that a spin before giving up
