Hi guys,

the moblin 2.1 is coming closer and closer with the Release Candidate already released, so I was wondering: when the 2.1 final is released, will Ubuntu Moblin Remix 2.10 automatically update to the new 2.1 User interface.

Yesterday I checked the Release Candidate and it has some serious improvements, for example bookmark & plugin management for the browser. So I really hope UMR will use it :)

I'd love to try the UMR 2.1 when it arrives. The 9.04 UMR works on the Dell Mini 9's obstreperous Broadcom wireless chip out of the box. A working Karmic version would be sweet. Last week anyway, the 9.10 UMR didn't have working Broadcom wireless.

It's amazing: So many NETBOOK users with Broadcom chips, and many of the newly pumped out NETBOOK specific OSes do not come with the Broadcom wifi working. Licenses, shmicences: The Broadcom chips are not some kiss of death.

Lots of Dell Mini owners wanting to try Moblin and posting about Broadcom problems, and no love at all from the Intel boys:

Even Kubuntu Netbook won't work with the Dell Minis outofthebox and right off the RAMstick *.img: http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=3107727.0

Griping done.

Hello all,

I got curious of this Moblin remix and tried the UMR Live on an USB-stick. But Some questions came to my mind:

- Why there isn't any clear link in Ubuntu.com (http://www.ubuntu.com) like "Download Ubuntu Moblin Remix here?

- And what are the main differences between Moblin "vanilla" and Ubuntu Moblin Remix / Mandriva Moblin UI, for instance (repositories etc. of course but else)? Is it developed to work better on Intel platforms like Netbook Remix? Since for me it seems that Moblin isn't just an other desktop environment, but a whole OS.

EDIT: Umm. is there any way to log out from Moblin? I can't find any buttons for that... Power button only shuts the computer down - now that's not so clever option. I also can't access laptop power settings anywhere?

you have to uninstall the mobline splash at boot up, they said to do so would decrease boot time. There are no power laptop settings save from adjusting the brightness via the battery icon. Moblin is still pretty much beta
