View Full Version : [ubuntu] Mr Freeze w/ IBM R40 trying to install 9.10
November 4th, 2009, 03:49 AM
Hey...my laptop freezes right away when trying to run 9.10. I've tried multiple copies as well as a full install and live install. Full install freezes right after log on and live install freezes right after start up.
Ideas? Fail safe mode? Video drive issues?
I'm a bit of a newbie here so hand holding might be necessary.
Thanks to all.

Hi, I'm having the same issue with the same machine.
I just installed 9.10 Karmic from a registered disc I received from Canonical.
I get as far as setting the timezone and it freezes. Mouse stops, keyboard is dead and that's it.
I'm afraid I may have wiped the IBM system in the process.
It wants to read a floppy disc that is not there during start up. I have to use edit start up and delete the search for device before it will run at all.
Have you found any answers?

Sorry....I never got a resolution. Ended up blowing the machine away and putting good old XP back on.
