I have heard alot about cloud computing, as of late and was wondering if my idea of cloud computing is accurate, or for that matter possible.

Here's what I have,

hardware
AMD X2 4000+ (65nm), 80gb HDD IDE, 2gb DDR2 RAM
AMD X2 4200+ (65nm), 80gb HDD IDE, 4gb DDR2 RAM
AMD sempron 1.9 (65nm), 200gb HDD IDE, 2gb DDR2 RAM

I really only want to use two of these ( the 2gb X2 and the semprom) but could use all if nessasary.
I am going to upgrade the HDD but it will take a little while to do that.

Here's what I want to do.
I want to make a web browser accesable computer, I want to store my documents on it, and I want to make it so that my family/friends can log directtly on to it and use their own virtualized machine. ( maybe 3 people on it at a time.) I have downloaded ubuntu server 9.10 (X64bit) and installed it as a cluster on the X2(2gb) and a node on the X2(4gb). The web interface for eucalyptus is avalible at https://myuniversitycenter.com:8443/ I have the 64bit 9.10 image installed on it. but have no idea where I'm going from here. any ideas or help would be apreicated.

Thanks,
Phil

I would like you to know that I am fairly skilled in linux CL and have a decent understanding of C along with a good understanding of js and HTMl, so shoot me some ideas based on that knowledge.

alright so I have been thinking. I either have to right a web front end to this or I can find some sort of portable VNC client that will run on windows/Mac. unless you can do what I want through elasticfox, which I have yet to figure out.

I can't speak to the cloud end because I am a little unsure of the difference between a could and say virtual infrastructure, but FreeNX is a great "terminal server" type program that allows multiple people to log on and use their own apps to one OS. http://blog.gwright.org.uk/articles/category/nx This link has a great installable free unlimited seat install for a FreeNX server, and I have to say the remote client is quite peppy too.
