Not able to play mms:// streaming

Hi people, there is a problem in ubuntu netbook remix 9.10 regarding mms:// streaming. I can't play it on any player. I tried movie player which was working on the 9.04 version I got an error. I tried VLC which was again working good on 9.04 and it just freeze no error no nothing. I tried Mplayer and it seems like ubuntu netbook remix has a problems with the program because it crashes when I open it.. so I don't really know what to do I tried 3 programs 1 crashed 2 were not able to do stuff they were doing in the older versions... any suggestions?

I just did.. I helped me a bit but the problem is still existing. Now movie player is not giving me an error but when it buffers it goes to 100% and that's it no picture no sound. The stream is fine I just check it on my windows pc and it was working.
