cannot view forum images

After looking around the forum a little bit I found out I apparently do not have the permission to view any images inside posts. Whenever I click a link like "picture.bmp" I get redirected to a page telling me I can't do that. Is this a bug or is there some sort of reason behind it?

edit: problem solved itself. It was probably some issue with me being a very new member or something. Sorry for wasting your time :)
