View Full Version : [ubuntu] Lost Background with Karmic

I have just updated to Karmic and seems good except I have lost my background picture (it's just black). I have tried setting one of the standard backgrounds as well as my custom ones but nothing works - the one I have selected shows as highlighted but the actual background remains black. On shutting down I have seen the background flash briefly but that's all.

Anyone any experience of this or can offer a suggestion please?

Do you have an ATI card and have compiz enabled?

If this isn't your problem then, sorry, I don't know.

Thanks for the link, I do have an ATI graphics card (not sure about compiz) and it is the same problem described in the link - turning off visual effects brings back the background. All we need now is a solution :)
