Hi,

Just being curious, I have Vista & LinuxMint installed.

If I boot with uBuntu 9.10 LiveCD, I can get mount any partition on my HD and read any file on them. Sound like a security concern for me.

Although I did try other LiveCD, I think they can do similar thing.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,

You are not doing anything wrong. That's normal behavior. If you have physical access to the machine you can do anything you want with a LiveCD. I'm not sure, but I guess the exception would be if you encrypt your partitions. As far as I know you can also password protect the BIOS to prevent booting, but I don't know how to do that.

:p

Good is I never need to worry about dead unaccessible windows data.

Thank you for your reply.

Even if you password protect the bios, the password can be removed if I've physical access to your machine (case off, change jumper on motherboard, reboot). Only protection from what you describe is encryption of the disks.
