Aside from the obvious answer (that I'd be an idiot) what would happen if I reported myself for abuse?

I may be wrong but it is for somebody else to report if your behaviour is unacceptable.See this. (http://www.ubuntu.com/community/conduct)

Example: I just reported zvacet for Excessive Usefulness with 50% clemency for providing a link.

depends on the type of abuse. did you swear on the forums? -> no
did you poke a badger with a spoon? -> yes

If you was accused of breaking the code of conduct, and needed to consult others and this became a disagreement, could you keep your membership of the forums as an aid to consulting others in respect of the disagreement or am I being daft ?

I might poke a badger with a spoon.

What if I poked a wolverine with a nutcracker?

What if I poked a wolverine with a nutcracker?

my first guess would be "a lot".

I'm willing to bet that if I was close enough to poke a wolverine with anything "a lot" would have already happened.

There's more than reporting abuse for that icon. You can ask the mods to move your thread to another forum, or close a thread too. ;)

Don't be fooled by my post count or my join date: in many ways I'm still a beginner

It's been over two years for me and I'm still trying to get the last clots of Windows off of me.

Please only use the Report Abuse feature to report threads that are against the Code of Conduct, need to be moved, or require some sort of staff action on them. Lots of posts are reported each day so we'd appreciate not having to sift through fake reports. It's fine to report your own threads or posts if you want your thread closed/moved/title changed or something along those lines.

Otherwise, if you don't have a reason for reporting a thread, please don't do it. :)

Sorry, I'm not looking to give the staff more work. Still... what about a wolverine and a bangstick?
