No Date or Notification Area

I have an Acer AspireOne that dual boots XP and also Ubuntu 9.04. Tonight, I decided to install (via terminal) the netbook remix. All seems to be working fine since turning off visual effects, but I dont get the notification area or the date at the top right of the screen. Any ideas how to fix this? Upon bootup, when the top bar flashes, I see the the top bar as it should look with date and notif. area, but when the system is ready to use, those two dissappear.

I do get the top bar (and even volume) which inlcludes the Ubuntu menu button on the left.

Hope to fix this prob... its PERFECT for a small computer!

Try a right click on the panel and choose "add to panel", then add clock aplet and notification aplet.

Thanks. Ive tried this already, but no luck. In the normal ubuntu mode I now have two clocks and two notification areas :)

Ive done pretty much all else I could do, like turn off effects, delete the bottom taskbar, etc. Not sure what else I could try.

They might be hidden, expecially if you have lots of launchers on the panel. Look for separator bars, right click on them and see if you can move stuff around and see them.

try removing the top panel and then adding back again. then add notification area and see if it works

I got it thanks! Iwas going back into the normal ubuntu and trying to delete and add things and it wasnt showing up in the remix side. So I deleted all but the menu on the ubuntu side, then went into the remix side and I didnt realize you could add or remove things on the remix taskbar too. So I deleted whatever I could NOT see (invisible for some reason) then was able to add what i needed. Great! It works! Thanks!
