In the build up to Karmic's release I am looking at the options for my netbook (AAO). I currently have 9.04 unr on it as well as linpus and XP. UNR is ok but tbh I was a bit disappointed that it just seems to be standard ubuntu with a different desktop rather than optimised for the netbook. I have actually gone back to linpus mostly because of ubuntu's heavy power usage which results in significantly lower battery life.
Moblin is interesting as being written for the atom cpu and netbook archetecture it should give better performance but I have read conflicting things about whether the karmic release is still very much a development release or stable enough for normal use yet. Also is possible to install and run normal apps on moblin as in full ubuntu?
thanks
