I split my hard drive and have ubuntu on one side of the partition. However, I can't for the life of me remember my username and password so I'm locked out. HELP!

Isn't that feature pretty dangerous? I mean what's the point of having a password if anybody booting my pc can simply change it in recovery mode?

Sigh. Anybody that has physical access to your system, has full access to it, no matter what you have done. The only exception is if you use encryption, that makes it harder for someone to get at your important data.

Yeah I know that, but my question was whats the point of a password if its that easy?
