View Full Version : [ubuntu] Pulseaudio 0.9.15 No Sound 9.04 Dell Inspiron 1545

My sound output used to work well, but not capture. I tried to set up capture, and messed up something along the way, so even output no longer works.

If I open the volume control while a program is playing a sound, I can see the program's output stream, and the volumeters move as if the sound is playing, but it is not.

The default output sink is the correct one, and alsamixer is not muted.

I've followed the various troubleshooting posts (e.g.: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=789578 and https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting and https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure ) without success. I've also asked on #pulseaudio@freenode, without success.

Hello Accidus, you could try adding this line to your /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf file instead of the model=dell-bios entry:

options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1

But it worked before so it's probably PulseAudio related. What you could try also is to rename your .pulse directory in your home directory.

Thanks! Your alsa-base.conf looks good. alsamixergui unfortunately doesn't show the settings I'd like to see. Could you open a terminal and start it from there with the command alsamixergui -c1 and post a screenshot from those settings?
