Any Linux distribution has the needed security and testing tools, it mostly depends on what you want to do. Backtrack is more for penetration testing than anything else, so it may not be what you want.

Basically you don't. But if you've been around fora long enough then
0) the simple fact they're asking questions here,
1) providing nfo and phrasing objectives a certain way and
2) tone of voice
will tell you a lot.
Besides when things are unclear then (instead of responding with comments or answers) asking questions will often yield more clues.

Imho anyone who is actually performing assessment work (and I'm not counting the scuz who run openvas or nessus scans and repackage the output for resale to their idiot clients in this) will understand the desirable o/s and network characteristics for their scanner platform.
If you're *thinking* about starting to do this type of work then the best place to start imho is learning system and network programming.
Wrt the op, you take your scanner platforms as you find them. Odds are good that you'll be able to exploit a vuln and inject a shell on some windows node in the target network so you use that as a platform for installing your scanners. What you use as your command/control platform is up to you but imho using a windows box for this is like riding a shortbus in a Formula 1 race.

I'm suspicious because of some of the other threads the op has started, plus the method of posting. If a person is serious, they usually don't pimp their posts with with bold/colored/larger fonts.
