sound problems

my internal sound worked great on vista but now that i switched to ubuntu 9.0.4 the sound driver isnt working and i cant get any sound at all. How can i get it to work.

Have you gone to System > Preferences > Sound and fiddled with the settings there? You can click test next to each one to check if they work, try different ones out.
