Why wouldn't they be allowed. Just another gif...
Seems absurd on the point of idiotic to ban a certain image type.

Well. I can't do it. I tried to upload a simple gif. And it said "You aren't allowed to upload animated images". I also tried an animated png. That didn't work either.

Try linking it. Works on a couple other forums I visit to bypass those things.
Seems odd to disable animated gifs...especially since you could easily have an animated gif of a smaller file size than many people's avatars.

I found this strange as well. Why no animated Avatars. Are they frightened that everyone will put up a XXX.gif as an Avatar.......

I like how there's an animated gif in his sig. Granted it's a very very very simple one with only 4 frames, but it's still funny.
Yes, I read the post and understand the reasons.

Wouldn't be so bad if you could submit your animated avatar for approval before being able to attach it to your account.
I know it would be a pain for whoever gets to "judge" them though.
But I like the spinning bright red hippo ;) (jk)

Mine wouldn't get approved.
I tend to use this picture on other forums: http://imgur.com/iDWFf.gif

They probably banned animated files because of the fact that some people place really, really ridiculous flashing colors in their avatars, which are not only annoying, but could be harmful to a visitor with epilepsy.

We do not allow animated avatars as most people find they are annoying.
With that said, we allow staff to have animated avatars as a "perk".

Note: the animation doesn't work on WebKit based browsers, but does in Firefox.

CR has changed avatars.
Feel free to use the report button in the future if you wish, usually these things are resolved with a few polite PM.
