I'm in the market for a replacement for my trusty EeePC (), and was going to go for a Dell Mini 10v since I know people who have Mini 9s and love them. The hardware performance I can research elsewhere, but can anyone on here tell me what the repositories are like? I understand that the Mini line uses Dell-specific repos - will these include all the software I could install if I had standard Ubuntu loaded? (I'm a student so it could potentially involve obscure stuff like LyX.) The reason I ask is that the EeePC's Xandros used manufacturer repos and they... weren't very good :P

hi,
I have a studio xps from dell, and yes, it uses dell specific repos but as far as I can tell is only for packages specific for your machine. my laptop was shipped including deb lines for the usual ubuntu repos, and I have been able to install everything I need as with any other ubuntu installation :)
