First I have to ask. Is there an opensource version/port of Lotus Smartsuite? Probably there is and my eyes totally missed it.
If there isn't, what could be the biggest problem faced by IBM if it wants to opensource it?

From http://lotus.com/products/product2.nsf/wdocs/sshome
Lotus SmartSuite, the award-winning office suite, features these applications: 1-2-3, the spreadsheet that started it all; Word Pro, the leading word processor with IBM ViaVoice; Organizer Release 5.04, the world's leading personal information manager; Freelance Graphics, the presentation graphics package for everyday communication; and Approach, the relational database your whole team can use.
1-2-3 and Organizer are also available as stand-alone products.

I'd like to revive this old thread -
Currently the one major thing holding back a extensive deployment through our office of Linux is support for our companies project management and accounting systems which run as Lotus Approach Databases.
The databases are already hosted on a Linux server but we have not found a Linux client that can support them.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Whoa! Six years ago someone reopened an old thread. Now it's come back to life again. I think it's time this was closed for good. Please start a new thread if needed.
