View Full Version : After WOW installation

I have WOW (world of warcraft) running through cedega. I get into the game and everything but it looks horrible. the resolution is 800 x 600 and really crappy looking. i get an error when i try and change the resolution at all.

1. Is there a way outside of the program i need to change the resolution

2. Is the fact the resolution is 800 x 600 making it look horrid.


I have seen screenshots and know that its possible for it to look much better.

amd 3800 dual core
2x gefore 6600 gt's
1 gig of ram

Try to change the settings in the World of Warcraft/WTF/Config.wtf file.
I`m using:
SET renderer "OpenGL"
SET gxApi "opengl"
SET gxColorBits "24"
SET gxDepthBits "24"
SET gxRefresh "60"
SET gxResolution "1280x800"

Ok now the resolution looks awesome. i got it set to 1600x1200. But in the game its rather choppy. Im not sure if it has something to do with rendering or 3d acceleration or whatever but its aggrivating

I know, the game is choppy here aswell.. i get an average og 7-15 fps.... perhaps its wise to turn down the resolution?

OK running great. I have it running in windowed mode at the moment.

I want to be able to alt + tab to another window though and i am not able to. I also have dual monitors so i would like to drag the WOW screen to my left monitor cause it looks much better. What would i go about doing to get this to work?

Quickly, what did you do to improve the Game, just out of curiosity.; I'm currently Running Ubuntu on a p3 1.0ghz with 512MB of Ram and a GeForce 3(64MB). I'm running at 1024x768 with about a solid 16-20 FPS everywhere but the cities. The interesting thing in this case is my p3 is running at most pc133 and it's loads are much "smoother" than those on my p4 with 512(pc3200) under WinXP. On the linux box it's "jittery" but I can still get around, under Windows on a far supperior computer I get "system lag" where I see hte same screenshot for upwards of 1-2 minutes, often times they are long enough that my connection to the server times out.:-? :-?

However I'd like to see what sort of things help to improve the game for you under Ubuntu. :mrgreen:
