I am considering moving my video editing system from Windows to Linux. I've used Ubuntu for a while, so I think I will use that operating system.

I'm considering purchasing a new computer with a quad-core processor, but I need to make sure that it will work with Linux. I use Adobe Premiere Pro right now, so I also need to find a good program to use.

Any suggestions?

I'm looking at the following:
Cinelerra
OpenShot Video Editor

Also, will most graphics cards support dual-screens in Ubuntu?

I'd go with an Nvidia GPU as they do just work in Linux.
Not sure about Software, that is something you should play around with before making that kind of switch.
As for the motherboard... you will be generally safe. Just make sure that people aren't having problems with the motherboard you decide to buy. Just a quick google search should be sufficient.

Hi, I would get several live CDs/dvds, and go to a local shop that will let you test them, and buy from them, even at a premium. It is a rare, but not unheard of scenario where live media worked, but the installation was a failure, so knowing that a few
different versions work is a good bet. If you get the last 4 ubuntu releases, and a Suse, Fedora, Mepis, PCLinuxOS, and Puppy (each of those has a slimmed down media specialty version or two) start the testing, but do a separate /home partition during installs, to keep your important configurations intact as you reinstall/perfect your new system a few times. Its good luck to store and back up your

/var/cache/apt/archives folder so you have the .deb or .rpm files on hand in an emergency. I would keep your other system intact during the transition, and be prepared for both the ups and downs, and lots of useful knowlege being obtained along the way.

Cheers
