Hi Guys

I've got a laptop HP nc4200 with a broken screen, so I decided to try install
Mythbuntu. The install went fine, and I've been playing around with it, but
there is only one problem - and it is quite serious.

When I attach an S-Video cable to my laptop, and plug the yellow cable into the tv (42" lcd) the picture looks terrible. I think that this might have to do with the resolution begin set to high or low or something, but things look distorted and you can't read any text. (you can make out the mythbuntu options, beause they are big, but it looks so ******)

How can I get a nice clear picture on my Samsung LCD?

I've tried changing the resolution, but its currently at its highest, and
when the TV is connected, and I go into display settings, I cannot change
the resolution or display rate - it's just blank.

The graphics chip is in the laptop is a Intel GMA 900.

I appreciate any help or point in the right direction.
I've been searching for days now with no luck.

Thanks in advance.

I'm afraid the problem might just be that you're trying to drive a nice shiny 42" panel that is designed for a digital signal, with a ****** composite signal. I tried for quite a while to get a decent signal via s-vid on an LCD, and while it wasn't as bad as you descibe, it was far from good.
Hasn't the TV got a VGA-in?

Bingo - that worked great.

Thanks man, don't know why I didn't try that.
