Program for recording tv series

I am using Ubuntu Karmic koala
I am watching Tv on my computer using "VLC media player".
Now i am looking for a program that would record a part of the TV series. Do you have any suggestions for at least compicated program?

You could try FoxMediaCenter (http://fmc.isgreat.org) extension for Firefox. It can record weekly series. It is not complicated. Well, at least I have tried to make it as simple as possible.
